Like many others, our family has contributed funds to the Shorthorn Foundation. Initially, funds were given to honor our parents, L.E. (Gene) Mathers Jr and Mary Mathers Welch, and were primarily targeted for what was once called the “All-American Jr Breeder Award” That scholarship/award was ended by the ASA a few years ago.
Our gifts and others that you may want to give are focused on a very important present and future need of our rural communities- Healthcare for our families and our animals and DurhamCountryDoc.com is a domain we use to help express the goals of this broad need.
Funds given to the Shorthorn Foundation in the name of DurhamCountryDoc.com are to be used by the Shorthorn Foundation to award scholarships to deserving individuals who are members of the AJSA or the ASA and are pursuing education leading to careers serving rural communities in the areas of medicine, veterinary medicine, and dental care ….- In other words (Health Care for people and animals)
